Planned Downtown Tree Removals Press Release

November 24, 2020 

The City’s Public Works crews will be closing the 800 Block of Main Street from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, December 1st and Wednesday, December 2nd, in order to safely remove 6 trees deemed hazardous in a recent arborist assessment. Click below to read the full press release.

Downtown Street Tree Program

November 24, 2020 

The City is developing a replanting program for the downtown area that includes replanting trees in areas where trees were previously removed along with a pro-active removal and replacement of some of the City’s older trees in the downtown area.

City Hall offices will be closed for the holiday on Thursday, November 26th and Friday, November 27th.

COVID-19 | Purple Tier

November 19, 2020 

With new COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations surging across California, the state today restored safety measures in Contra Costa and many other counties that are needed to protect the public and save lives during the pandemic.

The return to the purple tier of California's Blueprint for a Safer Economy comes with some additional requirements for businesses and community activities not imposed in Contra Costa since summer. But the change also reflects an approaching danger that health experts see in recent COVID-19 data, in the U.S., California and Contra Costa County.

Limited Stay at Home Order

November 19, 2020 

In light of an unprecedented, rapid rise in COVID-19 cases across California, Governor Gavin Newsom and the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) today announced a limited Stay at Home Order requiring generally that non-essential work, movement and gatherings stop between 10 PM and 5 AM in counties in the purple tier.

Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors - Virtual Veterans Day Ceremony

The Martinez Veterans Commission extends an invitation for you to join the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors as they honor Veterans during their 2020 Veterans Day Ceremony. The event will be hosted via virtual live streaming on Tuesday, November 10, 2020, at 11:00 AM.

Park Improvements Project

November 5, 2020 

The renovation of Golden Hills Park includes demolition and construction of a new community building, reconstruction of the basketball courts and resurfacing of the tennis courts. Highland Avenue Park improvements include replacement of the play structure and reconstruction of the basketball court. At John Muir Park and John Sparacino Park, improvements include constructing pathway and lighting improvements. Each of the four parks will also receive various landscaping, irrigation, drainage, fencing, and park furniture improvements. Click 'read more' below for more information.

Updated Notice Regarding Use of City Parks

October 1, 2020 

The California Department of Public Health issued an update on September 28, 2020 on Outdoor Playgrounds and other Outdoor Recreational Facilities. Playgrounds will be open to the public starting October 1, 2020, subject to certain conditions including adequate social distancing of at least 6 feet from anyone not in the individual’s household or living unit and use of face coverings outdoors for everyone 2 years of age or older. Following these simple public health and safety regulations is crucial to slowing the spread of COVID-19 in our community.
