On May 18, 2020, the Contra Costa County Health Officer issued a new shelter-in-place ORDER HO-COVID19-14 to supersede the prior Order issued on April 29, 2020. This new Order went into effect at 6:00 a.m. on May 19, 2020, and “will continue to be in effect until it is extended, rescinded, superseded, or amended in writing by the Health Officer.”
The City continues to process building, engineering, and planning applications so that approved permits can be issued as soon as possible once the Shelter-in-Place is lifted.

On March 16, 2020, the Contra Costa County Health Officer issued an executive order for all governmental agencies to cease non-essential operations at physical locations within the County until at least through April 7, 2020. This order was superseded on March 31, 2020, by Order HO-COVID-03, and again on April 29, 2020 by Order HO-COVID-09, which extended the shelter-in-place timeframe and mandated stricter social distancing guidelines. These orders were issued in an effort to stem the spread of COVID-19. In order to comply with the order, Martinez City Hall and the Senior Center will be closed and all non-essential City services will be temporarily unavailable at least until Sunday, May 31, 2020, or until otherwise extended, rescinded, superseded, or amended in writing by the County Health Officer.
